Weekend Recap

This weekend was more relaxing, in the sense that I didn't have a lot of appointments and I was able to get some things done around the house.  Though I guess it could still be considered busy!

Friday I finally just enjoyed a night to myself, relaxing in front of the T.V.  Its the first time I've been able to have a quiet night for awhile!  I stayed up late, watching a couple of movies.

I finally, finally, FINALLY got to sleep in on Saturday morning, and enjoyed some morning cuddles with Anna and Leo.  They never leave the room until I get up, instead they'll cuddle with me in beds (usually taking turns).  Those are my favourite moments with the cats :)

I went for a bike ride around lunch, and checked out the ponds and river by my house to see what birds were hanging around. I've been using Runtastic on my iphone to log my exercise, it syncs it over to MyFitnessPal and takes it into account on my calorie count.  Its a great app!

Some of the errands I did on Saturday including doing the flowers for the Altar at church:

I finally found a pantry I liked for my kitchen, and so I purchased it and put it together on Saturday night. Its not a large pantry, I wanted a smaller one, and one that was dark to match the rest of my kitchen.  I had been having trouble finding a dark one that wasn't massive, so when I found this, I jumped on it.  Its not a high quality, but for what I paid, and what I was looking for, it fit the bill.  It also meant that I got to re-organize the rest of my cupboards, so that was one happy night for me! All that was missing was the label maker!

Sunday was church and a choir practice (Church Thanksgiving is next weekend, and Canadian Thanksgiving after that!), my bird watching fall course, and some cleaning.  Argo was also on TV, which I had been wanting to see for awhile.

Well, that was my weekend! How was yours?

Weekend Recap

This weekend was another busy, but awesome weekend!  Although, I have to say, I'm look forward to a quiet weekend, and to sleeping in on Saturday!

On Friday night, I went to the Zack Brown Band Concert, and it did NOT disappoint! If you are a country fan, this is a must see!  I heard that there was a bad review, that he didn't interact with the crowd that much, and that is true.  But then again, the show was completely 100% about the music, and the musicians behind, and just showing off what they were all about it.  Which is what I like :)  I haven't been to all that many concerts, but I do know that I would rather be entertained by the music, then distracted by the theatrics of the show.  And these are high level musicans! I would definitely, DEFINITELY go to see them again.  In a heart beat.

After a short sleep, blamed on Leo attacking Anna all night and keeping me awake, I woke up early Saturday morning to go and do this with a girlfriend from work:

After horseback riding (with sore muscles I haven't used in years!), I went over to my friend Karina's house, and hung out with her and her daughter Paityn, and ordered some pizza.

Sunday was church, and then my bird watching, and I spent the rest of the evening just relaxing and finally enjoying some down time.

How was your weekend?

Making the box comfy....???

Leo made the shoe box more comfy by breaking it. Then he chewed on it a bit before curling up in it again. He's odd. And weird. And totally crazy. But he's my baby!

The things kids say!

From one of my students today:

K: Ms. Jessica, smell my hair, it smells good!

Me: oh, does it?

K: yeah, I put air-conditioning in it.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Too funny!

Weekend recap

I already posted on Friday, when I scored this fabulous dress at Rickis for only $10!

I ended up sleeping on my neck wrong AGAIN on Friday night, and woke up at 4:30 am on Saturday in pain, not knowing if I should go on my hike in the mountains.  I took some Advil, had a bath, discussed with my friend, and we thought it would be ok.  My backpack was light, and if I needed help carrying my things, everyone would pitch in.  So off I went with my sore neck and shoulder.  It was a bit of a tough climb for me, 3 of the km's were all up hill, no break, and my arm started to go a bit numb from the strap during the last 20 minutes.  Luckily, I had friends to help me with my load :)

Every step of pain was worth it though, because the view of the lake was worth it.  And so was bringing my binoculars, because I spotted 5 mountain goats way up on the hills...these are rare to see, as they rarely come down from the top (most tourists think they've seen them, when they've actually seen Big horn sheep, which are brown).  These were a first for me, and I was very excited to get to sit and watch them for a bit.

The lake at the start of the hike - not the one we ended
up at, but still a gorgeous picture :)

beautiful wooded forests along the trail

A blanket of moss covered the forest floor everywhere!

3 of the Mountain Goats...do you see them?

The lake - our destination! I love the reflection here :)

Beautiful flowers growing on the rocks along the shore

Sunday I had the 2nd week of my Fall bird watching course, which I think I'm going to start making into a separate post!  This week's course gave me the chance to visit one of my favourite parks and see the flood damage, which was quite extensive!  I'll show you some pics in my birding post :)

How was your weekend?  Hope you all had a great weekend too!

A little Friday shopping!

I was doing some shopping and I scored this dress for an amazing $10 at Rickis! Yay clearance!

It looks blue, but it's really purple.

When I sent Stephan a pic, he replied "Hot! Get it!", and so I did :)

Happy Friday everyone!

Update on my Uncle Mike

It looks like he's going to pull out of it ok, although it was a scary 36 hours!  He's going to stay in an induced coma for the time being, to let his body heal.  And it's going to be a long, slow recovery.  They are still watching his kidneys, but the signs look better now.

For those of you who prayed, thank you! And please keep praying :)

-Jessica

Please Pray for Uncle Mike!

I'm asking everyone to send out prayers to my Uncle Mike and his family, and the team caring for him.  He was diagnosed with cancer, and had an operation several days ago.  Since then, he's been in and out of surgery a few more times because he won't stop bleeding.  They've gone in and clamped the bleeding, but it still won't to stop.  Right now he is currently in induced coma for 5 or 6 days, to help his body his heal, and the doctors are concerned with his kidneys.  They almost lost him once.

Thank you all for your love and thoughts!

The Eagles concert!

The Eagles last night was amazing!  I'm so glad I got the tickets and went.  This is a band I grew up listening to, and it was always on my wishlist to see them. With rumours swirling that this could be their retirement tour, I wasn't going to miss what might be my only chance to see them live. I have no regrets.  And, believe it or not, this was my first real concert!

It was just amazing to see them perform last, this will definitely be something to remember!
